The Gombe State Hotel Proprietors have expressed dissatisfaction over the state government's proposed 'Consumption Tax'.

The proprietors under the umbrella body of the Lodging Proprietors and Hoteliers Association said the government has retracted the move to impose the tax.

The Gombe State Board of Internal Revenue had proposed the tax to be paid by hotels, event centres and restaurants.

This was disclosed by the Association's consultant, Suleiman Umar.

Umar who disclosed to Punch, said the association had met with the revenue board on 5th September to discuss the issue.

According to him: “Having been confronted with facts and proofs that lawfully voided the said consumption tax law in Gombe State, the service considered opting out of the consumption tax law in Gombe State after a thorough conversation.”

Meanwhile, the association has been asked to settle all other outstanding taxes before the end of October, 2022 to the revenue board.
