Hotelier, Accomplice Nabbed For Theft Of Company Bus

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command has arrested two persons, Paul Niwa and Michael Odunayo for the theft of a bus.

According to a statement made available by Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Ogun Police spokesperson, 47-year-old Nima who is a hotelier was arrested along with his accomplice for stealing the bus belonging to a Sagamu-based transport company.

Oyeyemi said the two suspects were arrested following a report lodged at Ewu-Oliwo Divisional Headquarters Shagamu on April 21, 2023, by one Anifowose Kazeem, who reported that he is the driver in charge of a T4 volkswagen bus with registration number AAB 22 XB.

"The driver said the vehicle while driving it from Abeokuta towards Shagamu at about 1 am developed a mechanical fault at Shagamu interchange, which made him to park it by the roadside where it was stolen.

"The DPO, Ewu-Oliwo division, Mr. Toyosi Bello, detailed detectives who embarked on technical and intelligence based investigation and they were able to traced the missing vehicle to the compound of one hotel at Elediye village Shagamu, where the vehicle had been dismantled into pieces to be sold in parts. 

"Michael Odunayo confessed to the police that it was himself and one Eri Adeyemi, who is now at large, that towed the vehicle away from where it was parked at about 2 a.m and took it to the owner of the hotel, Paul who happened to be a regular buyer of such stolen vehicle and he bought it at the rate of three hundred thousand naira."

The acting Commissioner of Police, Babakura Muhammed Oyeyemi has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to state criminal investigation Department for further investigation.

Muhammed also directed that the remaining member of the gang, Eri Adeyemi be fished out and arrested.
