The premiere date for House of the Dragon, the prequel series to the critically-acclaimed HBO show Game of Thrones, has been revealed.
Per a Variety report, House of the Dragon will arrive on the aforementioned streaming platform on August 21, 2022, according to the network.
The forthcoming series is set two centuries before the events of Game of Thrones and has ten episodes that will explore the fall of Targaryen House following a brutal and bitter civil war known as the Dance of Dragons.
Created by author George R. R. Martin and Ryan J. Condal, House of the Dragon is based on the former's novel titled Fire & Blood.
The series boasts a sprawling cast that includes Paddy Considine (as King Viserys I), Emmy D’Arcy (as Princess Rhaenrya, Viserys’ first child and his heir apparent), Matt Smith (as Prince Daemon, Viserys’ younger brother), Rhys Ifans (as Ser Otto Hightower, the Hand of the King), Olivia Cooke (as Lady Alicent Hightower, Otto’s daughter) and Fabien Frankel (as Ser Criston Cole, a knight with eyes for Rhaenrya).
It also co-stars Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Sonoya Mizuno, Ryan Corr, Jefferson Hall, David Horovitch, Graham McTavish, Matthew Needham, Bill Paterson, and Gavin Spokes.
