Houses, Cars Burnt As Gunmen Kill Soldier In Imo

Unknown  gunmen yesterday attacked and killed a soldier in Awo Mmamma in Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State.  

This led  to a reprisal attack by soldiers who allegedly stormed the area in rage, burning houses, cars and a hotel.

An eyewitnes who narrated the incidence said  that, “some hoodlums attacked  soldiers at Ishieke junction in Awo Mmamma and killed one of them. They zoomed off towards Ihiala in Anambra State.

"Later on soldiers invaded the area and caused havoc by setting a hotel, cars, houses and stalls on fire.”

The spoksman for the police in the state,, Micheal Abattam was yet to respond to a text message sent to his mobile phone  by the time of filing this report.

Also, the spokesperson for the 34 Artillery Brigade, Owerri, Sunday Akuga, did not take several calls to his mobile number.
