How Bandits Attacked Niger Communities, Abduct Scores

In an attack on Communities of Niger State on Sunday by Bandits, scores have been abducted including a Reverend father.

The Reverend, is identified as Reverend Father Leo Raphael Ozigi of the Catholic Parish, St Mary’s Catholic Church, Sarkin Pawa, Munya Local Government Area of Niger State.

He was abducted alongside 44 other villagers on Sunday evening.

He was on his way to Gwada from Sarkin Pawa when he ran into the bandits who took him away.

The incident was confirmed by the Secretary of the Niger State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Raphael. 

Raphael said, “Reverend Dr. Leo Raphael Ozigi was kidnapped on Sunday on his way back to Gwada from Sarkin Pawa after the Sunday Service."

The Secretary of Munya Local Government Area, James Jagaba also said there has been attacks on every part of the local government while describing the situation as pathetic.

AllNews gathered that the 44 villagers abducted were among those who were at the IDP camps that relocated to their homes on Saturday.

A source revealed that the bandits moved freely on the road the Reverend was abducted.

In another report, Daily Trust reported one Shehu Abubakar saying, “Government encouraged us to go back to our communities that there was going to be security arrangements. People started returning on Saturday and these criminals invaded us again."
