Ryan Coogler, the director of Black Panther, was put in handcuffs after a bank staffer assumed he was staging a bank robbery and called the police.
According to TMZ, the filmmaker was detained after entering a Bank of America to make a transaction back in January. It was a completely legal transaction but things didn't go as planned.
Coogler strode into the bank wearing dark glasses and a COVID-19 face mask. He gave the teller a withdrawal slip with a note written at the back.
The message at the back read: "I would like to withdraw $12,000 cash from my checking account. Please do the money count somewhere else. I'd like to be discreet."

Given the amount he mentioned, the teller wrongfully assumed something suspicious was happening and called the cops for an attempted robbery.
The officers arrived on the scene and detained two persons waiting for Coogler in an SUV. They then proceeded to put the director in handcuffs.
Fortunately, an investigation revealed that it was all a huge mistake; something attributed to the bank teller who was described as a pregnant black woman.
Per the report, Coogler was not happy with the experience and asked for the badges of all the officers involved after everyone was released.
