How Dubai trip made my Arsenal side win games — Arteta

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed that the decision of the team to embark on a trip to Dubai during the mid-season break has paid off with the boys playing brilliantly and winning games.

The Gunners were victorious in seven league games in succession, scoring 31 league goals, which represents the best form by any Premier League team.

Arteta spoke at his press conference ahead of his team's meeting with Brentford at the Emirates at 6 pm Nigerian time on Saturday (today).

"We had a really tough period before that. Everything clicked and then we've won and are playing good. It was really good, the perfect time for us where we build the chemistry, the energy around the place. Really positive trip."

On the non-availability of goalkeeper David Raya who is not eligible to face his parent club and the readiness of Aaron Ramsdale who has not had plenty of game-time, Arteta is hopeful that Ramsdale will be desperate to impress like other players who have not had their time as well.

"It is what it is. He's fully prepared, he's desperate to play like the rest of the boys who haven't had too many opportunities. He's been brilliant, really good, really supportive, pushing every day in training. It's a joy to have two good goalkeepers in the team."

Arteta also provided updates on the injured duo of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.

"They [Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka] have little issues but I'm hopeful they can be part of the squad. We will have to see tomorrow," the Spaniard noted.
