How Falconets Defeated South Korea At FIFA U-20 World Cup — Coach Danjuma

How Falconets Defeated South Korea At FIFA U-20 World Cup

Falconets coach Christopher Danjuma has opened up on the team's 1-0 win over South Korea in their second Group C encounter at the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Costa Rica.

It will be recalled that the Falconets won their first match of the competition 1-0 against France courtesy of a goal from Sebastine Flourish.

They continued their impressive start to the tournament with another 1-0 win over South Korea on Sunday night to qualify for the quarter-finals.

Esther Onyenezide scored a wonder goal in the 83rd minute to hand the Falconets the maximum points.

Head coach Christopher Danjuma has revealed what he told the players and the tactics he employed to earn the win.

“Football is about building your own tactics as it suits you. Playing against the Korean team, if they find space, they run, and there are certain areas in the field they use to make incursions into your box.

“So what we did was to make sure they didn’t come through that area and thank God it helped us.“

The Falconets have a date with winless Canada in their last Group C match on Thursday.

”We will approach every match one based on the importance of that match and the opponent we are playing.“ Danjuma concluded.

Meanwhile, Falconets midfielder Esther Onyenezide was named the player of the match in the 1-0 win against South Korea.

She scored the only goal of the match with a long-range effort.

In the first match against France, Sebastine Flourish was named the player of the match.
