How I Got Courage To Join #EndSars Protest- Davido

Award-winning singer Davido says he got the courage to join the recent #EndSars protest after he saw some ladies taking active part in the fight against police brutality.

Davido said this while speaking to DJ Cuppy on Apple Radio’s Africa Now.

According to Davido who did not initially join the physical protest until after some days, it would be insensitive for him not to join, based on his background.

The "Risky" crooner also recounted how he was attacked for not joining early as expected.

He said “I got my courage from all the other youths that went out there before me. They had been protesting for days before I even went there. I would say those people gave me a lot of courage especially the females, the women that were there protesting.

"When I first got there they were attacking me and people were even angry at me that why am I just coming? Where have I been? I could see the pain on the faces of Nigerians. Especially with the background that I am from, I felt it would be very insensitive for me not to lend my voice. The next day, I went to see the Inspector General of Police and it was not really productive if you ask me. What I mean by productive is the fact that they did not act on our demands.”

Recall that he was bashed in the Twitter community after he visited the Inspector General of Police, Muhammed Adamu and allegedly denied that he never joined the physical protest.

In other news, Davido who is also known for his statement "we rise by lifting others", said aside from music, he would want to be remembered for serving humanity.

“I would want to be remembered for a lot, not just music to be honest. That I served for humanity, I served the people and a lot of people gained from my blessing. I gave my family a good name, I gave my country a good name, I gave Africans a good name"
