Nigerian singer Bella Shmurda has told the story of how he came to feature Omah Lay on the ‘Philo’ song.
Speaking on the ‘Tea with Tay’ podcast, he said he initially didn’t plan on featuring any artiste on the track because the song was meant to be his jackpot on his debut album ‘Hypertension’.
Omah Lay
“He was never in the picture. We have a lot of songs that we recorded together before ‘Philo’.
"I recorded the song fully already. It was done already,” he said.
He recounted that he played the track to Omah Lay when they hung out after the latter’s North American tour.
According to him, Omah Lay insisted on being on the track.
He revealed that Omah Lay sent his verse in less than a week and even did his verse twice because Bella Shmurda was not satisfied with the first one.
“I made a space for him and in less than a week, he sent his verse. We mastered and recorded it.
“He actually did it twice. He sent the first one. He was like ‘did I like it?’ I didn’t like it so much but I said it was okay.
“As a guy man, he knew that I didn’t like it so much.
"So, he went back and made it better. I loved it and we dropped it. And it was doing well.

Speaking on his bromance with the ‘Boy Alone’ crooner, Bella Shmurda said they are more like family.
“Me and Omah Lay’s relationship is a bromance. We are so good. We are on good terms, no problem.
“Anytime we meet, we will record. We’ll play and laugh. We are more like family. Brothers.”
