How Man In Uganda Cut Off 16-Year-Old's Hand For Resisting R

A 16-year-old girl in Uganda named Evelyn Namasopo told the story of how her hand was cut off by a man, Derrick Koloba, who waylaid her and tried to rape her.

Speaking to Mbale Chief Magistrate Mr. James Mawanda during a court session, Evelyn said she was ordered to undress by her assailant, and when she refused, he tried to cut off her head. She blocked the machete blow with her hand, leading to it being severed.

"He started ordering me to undress and when I refused, he pulled out a machete and started cutting me. He wanted to cut my head but I tried to guard it with my right hand", she said.

The 16-year-old who was attacked when she went to get beddings and food near a forest for her sick mother added that when the episode was taking place, she screamed for help but none came. She stated that she was still in pain.

"I need justice from this court because I'm now disabled. I'm not able to do any day-to-day activities like I used to. I can't even write", lamented the youngster.

Evelyn sustained injuries on different parts of her body and in the court session, three witnesses (herself, her cousin, and her uncle) were made to testify.

In her testimony, she asked to court to give the perpetrator a harsh punishment. The case was adjourned to April 8, 2021, when the prosecution is expected to present more witnesses.
