How Meghan Markle Was Allegedly Silenced By The Royal Family

Meghan Markle's time with the Royal family was an unpleasant experience and her recent interview has revealed how she was silenced by them.

Spilling the beans in a chat with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan talked about how her work in the past has made her value independence, making her an outspoken person.

According to her, the sad irony of the past four years is that she has been an advocate for women to use their voice, and then she was silent.

Her words, "I've always been outspoken, especially about women's rights. The sad irony about the last four years is I've advocated for so long for women to use their voice. And then, I was silent."

Picking up on her comment, Winfrey probed. "Were you silent or were you silenced?", to which the Duchess replied: "The latter."

The talk show then asked, "So, how does that work? Were you told by the comms people or, I don't know, the institution... were you told to keep silent? How were you told to handle tabloids or gossip? Were you told to say nothing?"

Answering, Meghan stated, "Everyone in my world was given a very clear directive from the moment the world knew Harry and I were dating to always say 'no comment'"

"...I did everything they told me to do. Of course, I did. Because it was also through the lens of 'We'll protect you'. So even as things started to roll out in the media that I didn't see, that my friends would come and say, 'Meg, this is really bad.'"

"Because I didn't see, I'd go 'Don't worry, I'm being protected. I believed that. And I think that was, that was really hard to reconcile because it was only once we were married everything started to worsen that I came to understand that not only was I not being protected but that they were willing to lie to protect other members of the family."
