How Olamide signed me to YBNL — Asake

Nigerian singer Ahmed Ololade, popular as Asake has revealed his journey to becoming a signee of the Yahoo Boy No Laptop (YNBL) Nation record label.

The 'Lonely at the Top' crooner stated that he pleaded with YBNL boss, Olamide for nearly two years before he was given a spot on the record label.

In a recent interview with HipTv, Asake reflected on how he was invited to Olamide's residence after which the latter proposed the prospect of joining the record label.

The singer explained that the record label's boss advised him to seek legal counsel and examine the details of the contract thoroughly but due to Asake's excitement, he accepted the offer immediately and without further delibration.

“Before he [Olamide] signed me, I’ve been begging Baddo [Olamide] since 2020 to sign me.

“One day, I got to his house, then he asked me… This part burst my head. This is how he signed me. He said, ‘How are you, Asake?’ I said I’m fine. And he asked me, ‘Would you like to join YBNL?’

“You don’t understand, for somebody you look up to, somebody you respect, somebody you’ve been longing to see, to ask you that question. I told him that I’m ready. He said, ‘Go and think about it. Go and look for a lawyer.’ I said, ‘Baba, sign me now now now. I don’t want any lawyer. Because I love the [YBNL] family so much even from afar.” he said.

Asake was signed to YBNL Nation in February 2022. The singer has since released hit songs including 'Lonely at the Top' which is the most-searched Nigerian song in 2023 according to Google.
