Prominent Bini leaders, under the aegis of Edo Collective Agenda of Nigeria (ECA) have accused the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, of insulting revered former military governor of Bendel State, Dr. Samuel Ogbemudia, on several occasions.
While expressing anger over what they described as “his careless statements against the Binis”, ECA regretted that “Adams Oshiomhole extended his abuse and denigration to almost all notable sons of Edo-South, including the respected Benin monarch, whose son he forcefully took his parcel of land".
ECA, in a statement issued after their meeting, frowned at the manner Oshiomhole embarrassed notable sons and daughters of the Edo southern zone, especially his outburst against prominent chiefs of the ancient Benin Kingdom.
The leaders, in the statement signed on their behalf by Osarodion Ehizogie and made available to newsmen on Tuesday, categorically warned the former Governor of Edo state to be mindful of his actions and utterances.
According to the leaders, “Adams Oshiomhole extended his hatred for the Benin people to John Odigie Oyegun, who he abused and hounded from office as APC national chairman to take over his seat."
On Oshiomhole's alleged humiliation of erstwhile military governor of old Bendel State, ECA said, “Dr. Samuel Ogbemudia was humiliated by Adams Oshiomhole. He withdrew Ogbemudia’s vehicles from him when he (Oshiomhole) was the governor of Edo State.
“Adams Oshiomhole in his determination to wipe away the memory of Ogbemudia in Edo State demolished properties built by the Ogbemudia’s administration at the University of Benin, forcing the then Vice-Chancellor, Professor Osayuki Godwin Oshodin, an illustrious son of the Kingdom and others to be homeless."
While vowing to stop the antics of the APC national chairman, the leaders declared: “We are here today to say enough is enough. Oshiomhole can’t humiliate Obaseki. Obaseki was voted for by Edo people and the people who voted for him are not complaining."
