As Nigeria marks its annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, former President of the Nigerian Senate Bukola Saraki and erstwhile Vice President Atiku Abubakar have taken to Twitter to thank the armed forces for their patriotic service towards protecting the nation.
The former Senate President thanked the men and women in uniform for their sacrifices towards serving and protecting the nation.

"Today, we remember the sacrifice of our men and women in uniform and the families that they leave behind to serve and protect our nation. We thank you all for your service and pray that Almighty Allah will continue to guide and protect you," Saraki tweeted.
Former Vice President Atiku also expressed appreciation to the army for their effort towards defending the lives of Nigerians and the country's territorial integrity.
According to Atiku, Nigerians have every reason to thank the men and women in uniform.
Further praying that the soul of fallen heroes continues to rest in peace a tweet by Atiku read:
"For all that they had done and continue to do in defence of our lives and territorial integrity, on this #ArmedForcesRemembranceDay, we have every reason to #ThankASoldier. May the souls of our fallen heroes continue to rest in peace."
The Armed Forces Remembrance Day which, is observed on the 15th of January every year is a date set aside to commemorate the members of the Nigerian Armed Forces and to honour veterans of the World War I and II as well as the Nigerian Civil War.
