How To Measure Your Walking Distance Using Your iPhone

Having it in plans this new year to keep fit? Then your iPhone could be helpful in that regard.

The Department of Health and Human Services says you need at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity (such as brisk walking or swimming) a week. Therefore, 10,000 steps a day can be a great goal and starting place to consider yourself fairly active.

Your iPhone has a sophisticated built-in step counter. It uses the accelerometer to calculate the steps you take. All these data are stored in the Health app, which you can back up and sync to iCloud, as well.

To view your step count of the day, open the Health app. You can swipe down on the Home screen to bring up Spotlight Search, and then search for it if you can’t find it on your phone.
