Hundreds of women protested in the city of Abidjan on Saturday against violence against women. The women participated in the protest, calling the attention of many to violence suffered by women and girls.

Many women from other countries staying in Ivory Coast attended the protest to voice their claims and demand solutions to gender-based violence.

Anne Lugon-Moulin, the ambassador of Switzerland to Ivory Coast attended the protest and claimed: "We need a change of mentality to solutions on this issue. Women are here protesting so as men too, they are also here on solutions to these problems."

According to the World Health Organization, about 30 per cent of women living worldwide have been subjected to physical or sexual violence or non-partner sexual violence.
