Drake has expressed his gratitude to his mentor Lil Wayne for helping him jumpstart his career during their reunion show at the OVO festival.
The event was initially set to take place on August 1, but just hours before the concert’s kickoff, Drake announced he had tested positive for COVID-19 and, therefore, had to reschedule.
The event, which was held on Saturday, August 6, 2022, saw Drake, Lil Wayne, and Nicki Minaj share the 16,000-person capacity Budweiser Stage in Toronto, Canada, performing together.
While on stage, Drake took several moments to pay his respects to Lil Wayne, who is credited with finding both he and Nicki all those years ago and getting their careers started.
He called Lil Wayne the most selfless man on Earth and added that he would let anybody down for him because he loves him.
“You gave me $30,000 that I was able to bring home to my mother.
"And that changed the next like six months for us. And I'll never forget.
"That's the most important of all the money I've ever made in my life,” Drake said.
“You are the most important man to each and every one of us.
"You are truly the most selfless man on planet man.
"Find all these people from across the world, bring us all together, gave us all the shot.
“This is me by the way, I am your son. Look at this shit, you did this.
"This man right here, I promise you, there is nobody on planet earth like this man.
"He brought us here together. I'll do anything for you. I'll let anybody down for you. I love you.
