'I Fought Hard To Do Music' - Davido

Afropop star and DMW boss, Davido, has recounted how he had struggled to be a singer despite his father Adedeji Adeleke’s wealth.

Davido, in an interview with Pulse TV, stated that most rich people’s children feel they do not need to work because their parents have the money.

Speaking on how he lost his mother at the age of 11, the “1 Mili” crooner said he was heartbroken, although he knew what he wanted at that the young age.

The 27-year-old and father of three said he had fought so hard to attain this height in showbiz because he was raised in a family where they were mainly concerned about having the tertiary education and going to work for their father.

He also said that even though his father had paid a prize as a supporter, his success was as a result of his hard work.

“I was very broke, it wasn’t funny. Do you know that most rich pikins no get money? Because they don’t feel they need to work or aspire to be something,” he said.

“I fought to do this music, I come from a family that you go to school, graduate and work for pop but I had to fight,” he added.
