Cristiano Ronaldo Celebrates 700th Goal vs Everton
Manchester United decisively terminated Cristiano Ronaldo's contract on Tuesday following the full release of the full interview with Piers Morgan last Thursday.
Ronaldo 37, is currently on international duty with Portugal at the World Cup in Qatar and will not return to Old Trafford after the break with his contract terminated.
After the official statement by the club confirming the news, Ronaldo also released his statement, "Following talks with Manchester United, we have mutually agreed to end our contract with immediate effect.
I love Manchester United and I love the fans, that will never ever change.
However, it feels like the right time for me to seek a new challenge for my career.
I wish Manchester United every success for the remainder of the season and for the future”.
There are several speculations as to where Ronaldo would be heading next in January but there are several clubs who would be interested in taking him on as a free agent.
A major club is Chelsea, with new owner Todd Boehly, who sees the signing of the 37-year-old as a good investment both footballing and business-wise.
With Ronaldo's contract terminated, he can have his pick of any club he wants, even a return to former club Sporting Lisbon, who currently plays in the Champions League is possible
