The Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, on Wednesday, in a tweet, announced that he is yet to join any political party.
Recently, Obaseki resigned from the party under whose umbrella he ran for governorship, the All Progressives Congress (APC), after he met with the Chief of Staff to the president, Ibrahim Gambari.
He said that his goal was to focus on how best to control the spread of the virus in the state which " is ravaging our country and threatening our healthcare system."

"My focus now is to control the spread of the coronavirus (#COVID19) pandemic, which is ravaging our country and threatening our healthcare system."
He has also announced plans of running for another term in office under another party.
Obaseki was disqualified from running for another term on the APC platform by a panel after it was alleged that his certificates were defective.
Following his resignation, the Edo State PDP Chairman, Tony Aziegbemi, declared the defection of Obaseki from the APC to the People's Democratic Party (PDP), but said that the entry would not "be automatic."
