Hiba Abouk, the ex-wife of Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi, has spoken out about her divorce from the Moroccan footballer following rape allegations against him.
Abouk, who recently disclosed that the couple was in the midst of a divorce, revealed that she is trying to remain calm despite the shock of the situation.
In an interview with ELLE, Abouk stated, "I am fine. There are days when it is like this, and others in which you’ve to know how to take blows and make decisions, sometimes complicated, and get used to new situations.
"Who would’ve imagined that in addition to facing the usual pain that separation entails and accepting the grief that the failure of a family project to which I had given myself body and soul entails, I would’ve to face this ignominy? I needed time to digest this shock."
Abouk acknowledged the emotional complexities of going through a divorce while also dealing with serious allegations against her former husband. She expressed that she is taking her time to make decisions and not rushing into anything during this challenging time.
The divorce settlement between Abouk and Hakimi is rumoured to be complicated as there have been claims that a significant portion of Hakimi's wealth is registered in his mother's name, which could potentially impact the financial aspect of the separation.
Abouk and Hakimi have two children together, Amín, aged 3, and Naim, aged 1. The couple got married in 2020, two years after they first met in 2018. The rape charges against Hakimi, which surfaced in February, have added further complexity to their separation.
As the situation continues to unfold, Abouk's calm demeanour in the face of adversity is commendable, and fans and followers will be keeping an eye on any further developments in this high-profile divorce case involving the renowned footballer.
