Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba State

The Governor of Taraba State, Darius Ishaku has said that he will not pay striking lecturers of the Taraba State University under the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

Ishaku made this known on Sunday in Taraba during a combined third-quarter service of TAKAN and ECWA.

As reported by Blueprint, the governor said the university lecturers had no reason to join the ASUU strike.

“We the bigwigs are accused of sending our children abroad for schooling and when we asked our lecturers to go back to class so that children of the common people can equally obtain the education they refused."

He further noted that with the foundation laid by his administration, any incoming government would benefit more.

Ishaku also called on Christians to remain united adding that his administration works with everyone regardless of ethnicity.

He further appreciated while maintaining that the Christian community had played a role in his emergence as the state governor since 2015.
