The Polytechnic, Ibadan has expelled one student for alleged kidnapping and assault and suspended two others.
This is contained in a statement by the Registrar of the polytechnic, Modupe Fawale, on Wednesday in Ibadan, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
According to the statement, an HND (1) Public Administration student was expelled for alleged kidnapping and assaulting a security officer of the institution.
It added that two other students, one ND (2) Mass Communication and an HND (2) Local Government Development Studies, have been suspended indefinitely.
Fawale, however, urged parents and guardians to monitor the activities of their children in school, warning that the management would not hesitate in taking drastic actions against any student whose conduct would damage the institution's reputation.
Fawale further advised the students to abide by the laws and inform the management about any suspected illegal activities by students and non-students.
She added that the polytechnic would partner with law enforcement agencies to prevent crime on its campus.
Fawale said that this development would also protect the law-abiding students, staff and the entire Polytechnic Ibadan community.
