Ibadan Woman Attacked By Robbers

Yet-to-be-identified robbers have attacked and machetes a 49 year old woman identified as Ajayi.

She was attacked at Adisa Bridge on the Ibadan/Oyo New Expressway, Akinyele local government area of Oyo State, on Monday.

Ajayi, while narrating her ordeal on the hospital bed at Wabilahi Taofeek Maternity Clinic, Isale Awero, Moniya, said she was attacked by two young men who were on a motorcycle about 6:30 p.m. after she disembarked from a commercial vehicle she boarded at Ebedi in the area, which had developed a fault.

“One was on the bike, while the second was very close to me, asking me to bring all the money with me. I didn’t even know that they were robbers until he brought out cutlasses and inflicted machete cut injuries on me.

“I just went to the market to get some goods for my customers. They collected everything. The one on the motorcycle was telling him to kill me if I wasn’t ready to cooperate.

"Before I said anything, he brought out the cutlass and inflicted injuries on me.

“I am a pharmacist. All the medicines inside my bag and other valuables were forcefully taken away.”

Also, a doctor on duty, who did not want his name in print, said his examination of the victim’s wound showed that the robbers had intended to kill her.

Meanwhile, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, was not available for comment as of the time this report was filed.
