Asake
YBNL latest signee Asake has opened up on the event leading up to how rapper Olamide Adedeji signed him into his record label.
Sitting with Do2dtun and Eve on the midday show, Asake revealed that he had been texting Olamide to help him since 2020 but the rapper did not respond to his DMs.
According to Asake, the signing came to be after he dropped his buzzing single 'Omo Ope'.
Speaking further, Asake revealed that Olamide texted him one morning that they need to see, and after seeing the rapper, he casually asked if Asake would love to be part of the YBNL family.
"You would not believe this, I've been texting Olamide since 2020. Baba please help me, you've helped a lot of my friends.
"Fireboy was with him, he helped Chinko Ekun too. I was always using it against him.
"The funniest part is he didn't reply to me. After we dropped the song 'Omo Ope' (Yhemo Lee sent the song to him), he just texted me one morning and was like 'Asake, we have to see.
"I started looking for outfits then I went to him. He just said it like it was nothing 'would you like to join the family?
"For a street boy that does not know this will happen and you just tell him 'Do you mind to join the family.
"I was like 'shey man yi fe pami ni' (does this man want to kill me?)"
"I didn't even know what to say at that point. I just said yes, just give me like this.
"He told me to go home and read the contract but I said I didn't want to read anything.
"We were together in the same room talking about the song. And he said 'Can you like make a video to the song? And I said okay. Then I made the video and he posted it 'Welcome to YBNL'.
