Idle Minds Are Devil’s Workshop, CAN Warns FG, ASUU

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has urged the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to ensure that students return to school.

CAN President, Rev. Daniel Okoh, warned the FG and ASUU of the likely consequences of allowing Nigerian youths to remain at home.

Okoh gave this warning at an interdenominational church service to mark the 62nd Independence Day at the National Ecumenical Centre, Abuja.

The CAN president advised the parties involved to put in the necessary work to ensure students return to school, stating the effects of idleness.

"I call on the Federal Government to do all that is necessary so that these youths will go back to the universities and engage with their studies.

“It often said that idle minds are the devil’s workshop, idle lips are his mouthpiece,” he urged.

Okoh further encouraged Nigerians to obtain their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) and participate in the 2023 general elections.

ASUU commenced industrial action on February 14, 2022, due to the failure of the federal government in meeting its demands.
