Igbinedion Varsity Receives Accreditation For Five IT Instit

Igbinedion University Okada (IUO) has disclosed the accreditation of five IT institutes which would provide the students with certifications for skill set acquisition.

The IT academies accredited include CISCO, HUAWEI, Mikrotik, Microsoft and Amazon Web Services.

The Vice-Chancellor of the Institution, Prof. Lawrence Ezemonye made this known at the opening of a five-day digital training for the staff of the university on Monday in Okada.

The training tagged “Advanced Digital Appreciation Programme for Tertiary Institutions’’ was organised by IUO in collaboration with Digital Bridge Institute (DBI).

According to Ezemonye, the institution had said the university had combined styles of lecture delivery such that the students are equipped with the required skills to compete in the global market.

The VC stated that the training became necessary to improve the digital skills of the staff of the university, thereby promoting service delivery.

“The training and retraining of IUO teaching and non-teaching staff on digital skills is part of our strategic plan to consolidate the University’s Smart Campus regime geared toward advancing teaching, learning, research and administration.’’

Speaking at the training, Emeka Nzeih, the Coordinator of the training from DBI, lauded the institution for promoting the use of ICT.

He added that DBI, established by the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), had upskilled about 80,000 staff in tertiary institutions on digital literacy.

“The training is to enhance the  productivity of staff, engender a culture of ICT adoption and application as well as to improve research output via proper data analysis and interpretation,’’ he said.
