Igbos Need Biafra, Not Presidency — Bishop

A cleric, Bishop Abraham Udeh has asked those clamouring for the Igbo presidency to forget it and concentrate on how to achieve independence of the Biafra Republic.

Udeh said this during his homily in Nnewi, Anambra State on Sunday.

He stated that ethnocentric politics and high levels of corruption, as well as marginalisation, have continued to give impetus to agitation for self-determination.

Udeh, who is the General Overseer of Mount Zion Faith Global Liberation Ministry, condemned some members of President Muhammadu Buhari’s government, who according to him, were on last-minute efforts to grab as much as possible.

In his words “Those who lead the Federal Government to borrow will come back after Buhari administration to answer for their sins. They embezzle and share the resources of this country. They borrow and share the money thinking that they will go scot-free.

“All those working under President Buhari must not be allowed to leave this country as soon as his tenure finishes. They must give an account of what they did in office.

“If you say the truth, they will send EFCC and DSS after you. But very soon all those things will come to an end,” he said.

On the 2023 presidential election, the Bishop said he was only interested in the actualisation of the United Igbo Republic by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

According to the Bishop, those to make up the new Igbo Republic would include the Delta, Edo, Benue and Rivers Igbo.

He said all other Igbo-speaking areas of the country who do not want to join the Republic could be on their own, adding that nobody would force them to join the Republic.

He advised the leadership of IPOB to adopt the new Republic as revealed to him and actualise it.

“I have advised our people to stop clamouring for Nigeria President of Igbo extraction because they are not ready to give it to you. Let’s focus on United Igbo Republic actualisation.

“Don’t you see one Northerner who spoke recently to say that the whole of South-South, South East and South West are only 70 million people out of about 250 of the Nigerian population?

“He gave the impression that Buhari would be succeeded by another person from the North based on the population of voters in the North. That is self-deception.

“If we want to talk about that his analysis is false. Their only target is to manipulate the population as usual where cows, goats and foreigners were counted as genuine voters. It won’t work again. That’s for those who are interested in the presidency, anyway, ” he said.
