Ighalo: 'If We See Am, We Go Beat Am' - Nigerians React To Neville's Claim About Striker

Ighalo: 'If We See Am, We Go Beat Am' - Nigerians React To N

Nigerians are not impressed with a statement credited to former Manchester United captain, Gary Neville, asserting that the English Premier League (EPL) giants do not need to spend £20m on striker Odion Ighalo.

Allnews reports that Neville questioned the Shanghai Shenhua loanee's value in the current market.

Ighalo had proved doubters wrong, hitting four goals in his first eight outings (averaging a goal every 80 minutes) for the Red Devils before the current campaign was postponed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2019 top goalscorer is thought to be at the crossroads as he is torn between accepting a massive offer from his parent club or extending his stay at Old Trafford and slugging it out with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood.

Neville thinks a fee in the region of £20m is too high for a player whose progress at the Theatre of Dreams was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The former United right-back said recently on Instagram Live: "Is Ighalo worth £20m? Probably not in this market.

"He may have been if he continued scoring goals but you probably don’t need now to spend £20m."

Meanwhile, Ighalo has received widespread praise for his performances in a United shirt.

Many show solidarity with the Ajegunle hero.
