Ighalo To Make Manchester United Squad For Chelsea Clash

Manchester United gaffer, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has revealed that his January loan signing, Odion Ighalo, will be part of the travelling squad for their game against Chelsea on Monday, despite having not trained with the team yet.

Ighalo had to stay behind in Manchester to work on his fitness while the rest of the squad went on a winter camping exercise in Spain amid fears he wouldn't be allowed to join his teammates on their return having only just arrived from China, a country battling with a new virus that has claimed the lives of over 1000 people.

Following the end of their winter break, Manchester United travel to Stamford Bridge to face a Chelsea side that occupies the final Champions League spot and Solskjaer has indicated that the on-loan Nigerian international is in contention to play a part.

“Yeah, he is going to travel with us. We will just see his fitness work this week and I think we will get him sharp,” he told club media.

“We want to integrate him as quickly as we can because, of course, he is desperate to play for us.”

United arrived in Spain on Saturday and have been enjoying training in the warm weather during the first enforced winter break and Solskjaer has been impressed with what he has seen from his squad.

“Yeah, it’s very good. I think the boys enjoyed a break, they needed a break, but now they are back, focused and they have been working well,” Solskjaer said.

“Yeah, of course with the weather back home as well, this has been an even bigger plus for us. Being in Europe, because the travel isn’t too far, is also a good point because we don’t have too many days before we have to go back and get ready for Chelsea.”
