 IGP Orders Tight Security Nationwide Ahead Of Yuletide

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu has ordered tight security arrangements and high proactive visibility patrols across the country ahead of the Christmas and New Year Celebration. 

Adamu further directed all Zonal Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs) and state police Commissioners to strengthen their strategies on crime prevention in their respective zones to ensure a crisis-free holiday season.

Allnews learned that the IGP who made this known in a statement on Wednesday through the spokesperson of Nigeria Police Force Public Relations Officer, Commissioner of Police, Frank Mba said the order is to ensure a peaceful celebration.

Adamu, however, reiterates his call for effective deployment of both human and material assets of the Force in protecting the major highways, recreational centers, motor parks, places of worship, financial institutions, and government/private infrastructures, amongst others.

He warned police operatives, especially those detailed to man the highways to desist from all forms of misconducts and abuse of the rights of the citizenry and to adhere strictly to laid down rules and standard operating procedures of the Force.

Adamu also warned that any reported act bordering on unprofessionalism, including extortion and intimidation of road users, would be investigated and decisively punished.

While congratulating Christians in the country as they join other Faithful across the globe to celebrate the symbolic anniversary of the Birth of Christ, Adamu expressed profound appreciation to all Nigerians for their support to the Police and other security agencies in the fight against crimes in the country.

He promised improved police service delivery and security generally in the incoming year, 2021.
