I'm Confident Of Keeping Leicester In Premier League — Rod

Brendan Rodgers

Irish manager Brendan Rodgers has spoken out following his departure from Leicester City by mutual consent on Sunday.

In a statement released via the League Managers' Association on Tuesday, Rodgers expressed his disappointment at leaving the club so close to the end of the season, but remained confident that he could have turned things around had he stayed in charge:

"I am obviously disappointed to depart so close to the end of the season and had every confidence that we would have delivered the results needed to preserve the club's Premier League status.

"The players, my staff and I gave it our all every single day and I will always be proud of what we were able to achieve together."

Rodgers also spoke about his future in football, revealing that he was already looking towards his next opportunity:

"I'm now looking forward to having a chance to reflect and recharge and get ready for the next opportunity."

Before his departure from Leicester, Rodgers had been linked with a move to Tottenham, and with the Blues still in search of a permanent manager, it remains to be seen where the Northern Irishman will end up next.

In the meantime, first-team coaches Adam Sadler and Mike Stowell will be in temporary charge for Leicester's game against Aston Villa on Tuesday.
