Immigration Has No Power To Reopen The Borders - Mohammad Ba

On the re-opening of the Nigerian land borders, the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Mohammad Babandede, said that it can only happen when the president decides it is time.

He stated that the Nigeria Immigration Service possesses no authority over the re-opening of the borders, this he stated at the Immigration Service project validation meeting with senior staff of the service on Tuesday, in Abuja.

He explained that, although the borders are closed, but they are not fully closed, as the borders are open from 6 am to 6 pm, and that the closure of the borders only serve to protect the country and the closure was not to spite the neighboring countries.

Mr. Mohammad added, “The borders are partially closed and this is in line with the ECOWAS rules where you must have travel documents. You must enter through the legal routes and with documents.”
