The youth wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) will on Friday march against all forms of electoral violence in the state.
The president of the state youth wing, Kennedy Asuzu, said that the march is a demonstration by the youths of the state that they are committed to free and credible elections.
He said that the 2023 general election is important for the nation, adding that as young men and women, they won’t allow politicians truncate the peace of the nation.
"We are hitting the streets on Friday for Non- Violence Election awareness road walk.
"We will start at the front gate of Imo State University and terminate the walk at heroes’ square.
"We want to pass a strong message of commitment for violence free 2023 elections in Nigeria and particularly in Imo State.
“We want the political players to play by the rules. We also want the youths to refuse to be used to mar the elections.
"We have communicated with security agents about the march.
"We will also have people from INEC speak to the youths during the walk.
“As Christian youths, we detest any act of violence.
"Let the political stakeholders know that politics is service, selfless service to the people.
"They should not be desperate. Every responsible youth should join us as we march round the streets of Owerri."
