Imo: Traditional Ruler Shot Dead, Corpse Set Ablaze

HRH Eze Victor Ijioma, the ruler of Orsu Obodo in Oguta local government area of Imo State, has been killed by gunmen.

It was gathered that the slain monarch was murdered alongside the Traditional Prime Minister of Isama of Mgbele community in the council.

Per a Daily Trust report, the traditional ruler was accosted by the gunmen at Umuamaka junction in the neighbouring Izombe town, where he was shot while in his car and his body set on fire.

Similarly, the Traditional Prime minister of Mgbele, whose name was not revealed as of the time of this report, was said to have been killed in his town.

A source who spoke on the tragedy disclosed that security presence has increased in Izombe, Mgbele and other parts of Oguta local council in a bid to fish out the perpetrators.

Those living in the area have fled their homes for fear of reprisal attacks.

When reached for comment, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Henry Okoye, said he was yet to be briefed on the incident.
