India To Export Fever Drugs To China

India says it is ready to step up exports of fever medicines to China as it reels from a spike in COVID-19 cases.

Sahil Munjal, chairperson of the Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil) said on Thursday; “Marketing queries are coming to drugmakers asking for quotes on ibuprofen and paracetamol.

“Ibuprofen and paracetamol are facing a shortage in China at the moment, they are high in demand.”

India’s pharma exports to China accounted for just 1.4 percent of its overall exports in 2021/22, according to Pharmexcil’s latest annual report.

India has also begun testing international passengers arriving at its airports for COVID-19.

The country’s federal health minister, Mansukh Mandaviya said on Thursday.

India has administered more than 2.2 billion COVID-19 vaccine doses, it currently has about 3,400 active coronavirus cases.
