President Bola Tinubu has assured the Nigerian military of his commitment to its welfare in the continued fight against insecurity.

The assurance was during the closing ceremony of the 2023 Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) and 160th Anniversary of the Nigerian Army on Thursday in Ibadan.

Represented by the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, Tinubu stated that his administration is conscious of Nigeria's security situation and is ready to address citizens' concerns.

He added that his government would continue what it can as permitted by the nation's constitution to ensure that Nigerians are safe and the country is united.

“I assure the Nigerian Army and the entire Armed Forces of my commitment to their welfare, and I will address the issue of equipment, insufficient funding and other factors constraining their efficient operation,” he stated.

Speaking further, President Tinubu added that a mechanism has been put in place to comprehensively address all the challenges facing the Armed Forces for them to effectively carry out their operations.

He urged citizens to unite and ignore acts capable of causing disunity and commended the military and other security agencies for their efforts.
