Insecurity: Keep Your Travel Details Secret - Security Exper

Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) have been warned not to disclose their travel itinerary to high risk areas.

They were also warned to avoid non-essential travels.

This warning formed part of the 2022 Batch B Stream 2 NYSC inaugural lecture delivered by General Joe Komolafe (rtd.), a security expert at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede, on Saturday.

General Komolafe in a lecture themed; 'Around Security', charged PCMs to be security conscious during the service year in order to be able to avert insecurity in their respective places of primary assignment.

“You should observe security lapses in your Places of Primary Assignments when posted and be able to report such lapses to available authority for their safety and others in that PPA.”

While advising them on measures to take in cases of emergency and control during crisis situation, the security expert hinted that the best way to get security is to feel secured.

“Look for safety points like Police Stations, Banks, Churches, Business Places when in danger and you should always have contact numbers of your local government inspectors and security agents handy at all times.

He lamented that the compulsion among youths share their locations and destination of travel on social media gives out so much information online and had the potential of attracting risks to them.

Komolafe also urged youths to desist from drug abuse as it has become endemic in contemporary times.

“The use of Tramadol, Cocaine, Cough syrup without prescription has ended the lives of prospective young men and woman, and that if there is a continuation in substance abuse, the future of the country is at stake,” he concluded.
