Insecurity: Makinde Assures Residents Of Peace

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has stated that Ibarapa geopolitical zone is now free from the insecurity of the past.

The governor made the disclosure during the annual World Twins Festival in Igbo-Ora on Saturday.

It was gathered that the zone in the recent past had witnessed incidents which have led to several deaths and the destruction of properties worth millions of naira.

The most prominent is the Igangan attack in Ibarapa North local government area in June 2021.

While claiming that permanent peace has returned to the area, Makinde explained that his administration has turned around the security situation in the area.

He added that people of the area can now go to farms with their minds at rest while others go about their daily businesses without fear.

"Almost four years ago when I came here, I campaigned on four major pillars, which are Health, Education, Economic expansion and Security.

"And today, I am glad that Oyo State has made significant progress on the four pillars.

“We used to have security challenges in Ibarapaland before but it is now a thing of the past, as our people now go to farms with their minds at rest while others go about their daily businesses and endeavours in peace."

Ibarapa zone consists of three local government areas, namely, Ibarapa East, Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North.
