The Defence Headquarters has claimed that the Nigerian military killed more than 62 terrorists in the past two weeks while 192 others surrendered.
The acting Director of Defence Media Operations, Brigadier General Bernard Onyeuko, gave an update on military operations between November 25 and December 9 as he said that those who surrendered were handed to authorities for necessary actions.
He also added that 20 kidnapped members of the Nigeria Police Force were rescued after being abducted when terrorists attacked the Police Division at Buni Yadi.
According to reports on the operations led by the troops, the troops destroyed and captured several fighting equipment and vehicles owned by the terrorists, while 54 arms and 144 rounds of ammunition were recovered.
Onyeuko expressed his regrets that some officers and soldiers paid the ultimate prize during the engagements with terrorists.
