Insecurity: Oyo Police Storm Forest In Search Of Kidnap Vict

The Oyo State Police Command on Wednesday invaded the suspected forest hideout of kidnappers at Onipe Community, along Ibadan-Ijebu Ode Road, in search of the kidnap victims abducted by gunmen on Monday.

According to Oyo Affairs, the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Operations, Gbenga Ojo led the search and rescue operation that involved: operatives from Idi Ayunre Division, Anti-Kidnapping Squad (AKS), Monitoring Unit, Police Mobile Force (PMF), Skynet, Swift Response Squad (SRS), and local vigilantes.

Also present among the search party were members of the press who were there to report events discovered during the search. The rescue operation started at about 9:00 a.m. with the combined task force searching the Onigambari forest and other suspected bandit haunts and went on until 4:30 p.m.

After the search was put on hold, ACP Ojo revealed that the Oyo State police have discovered that in the recent kidnapping cases in the region, abducted victims are usually whisked into the nearby bush which is why the rescue operation started their search there.

In his words: “As part of security measures put in place by the command, we have deployed several patrol vehicles along the road to check the activities of these hoodlums.
