Insecurity: Service Chiefs Honour Senate Invitation, Brief L

The Service Chiefs have honoured the invitation of the Senate to brief the lawmakers on the security situation in the country.

Present at the meeting was the Acting Inspector General of Police, the Chief of Defense Staff, Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Naval Staff, Air Force, and other heads of security agencies.

At the commencement of the meeting, the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan commended the members of the armed forces for safeguarding the country and giving their lives in the process.

Lawan said the parliament took the security situation in the country seriously and admitted that the Armed Forces have not achieved the optimum in the fight against insecurity which according to him, was large because of inadequate resources.

The meeting between the service chiefs and the Senate was earlier scheduled to hold on Tuesday, May 4, 2021.

It was later postponed because the Service Chiefs were having a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on the same day.

In less than a week, the meeting was the second security meeting President Muhammadu Buhari held with the Service Chiefs.
