Insecurity: Why President Tinubu should meet with police — Falana

Insecurity: Why President Tinubu should meet with police —

Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN) on Thursday urged President Bola Tinubu to call a meeting with the Nigeria Police Force to devise ways of stemming the tide of insecurity in the country.

Falana made the call in an interview with Channels Television’s Politics Today.

“Tinubu should call a meeting of the Nigeria Police Force, NPF,” said Falana.

The senior lawyer, however, described calls for state police as diversionary, saying, “There are fears that such (creation of state police) will be misused as a tool for political fights if created.”

Allnews.ng reports that the call for the creation of state police came back into national discourse after the December 24, 2023 massacre in about 25 communities in Bokkos, Mangu and Barkin-Ladi local government areas of Plateau State by terrorists.

The attacks on the communities led to the death of over 195 citizens, several others wounded, with thousands rendered homeless.
