Insecurity: Zamfara govt orders security agencies to enforce

The Zamfara State Government has ordered security agencies to enforce restriction of movement on its borders with Katsina and Sokoto State to tackle insecurity.

The restriction which is from 7:00 p.m to 6:00 a.m was issued on Tuesday during the State Security Council Meeting.

The State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Manir Haidara who disclosed this in Gusau, the state capital said the decision was meant to address issues of kidnapping along the Sokoto-Gusau-Funtua highway.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the commissioner added that government urged motorists and travelers to abide by the order.

He said: “As from today (Tuesday), the state government has ordered restriction of movement along Yankara border of Zamfara with Katsina state and Bimasa Zamfara border with Sokoto state from 7:00p.m to 6:00a.m daily.

“This is to tackle the incessant kidnapping of travellers along the Sokoto-Gusau-Funtua highway.

“This is part of the state government’s measures to reduce and address kidnapping activities by bandits, especially along highways in the state.

“Security agencies are directed to monitor the two borders and ensure full compliance."
