Instagram Investigating Outage As Thousands Of Accounts Are 'Suspended' Without Notice

Instagram Investigating Outage As Thousands Of Accounts Are

Instagram announced on Monday that it was looking into a problem that has prevented thousands of users from using the photo-sharing app.

Some users' Instagram accounts were suspended as a result of the outage.

One user said that in order to reinstate a suspended account, the app had requested their email and phone number.

"We're aware that some of you are having issues accessing your Instagram account.

"We're looking into it and apologize for the inconvenience," Instagram said on its Twitter account.

A notification stating that they were locked out was seen by some users, although they were still able to scroll through their feeds.

Others said that they had fewer followers than before, perhaps because their accounts were locked.

Some users on Twitter claimed to have reclaimed access to their accounts only to discover that all of their content had vanished.

It wasn't apparent whether the issue stemmed from within the social media platform or whether it was a hack.

Emails sent to the business, which is owned by Facebook's parent company Meta, were not promptly answered.

According to the outage-tracking website Downdetector, which compiles status updates from several sources, including user-submitted faults on its platform, around 7,000 Instagram users were impacted.
