International friendly: Dessers, Lookman on target as Super

Nigeria's Super Eagles came out 2-1 winners in Friday's international friendly against the Black Stars of Ghana at the Stade de Marrakech in Morocco with goals from Cyreil Dessers and Ademola Lookman enough to guarantee the deputy African champions the bragging rights, Allnews.ng reports

The Nigerians were constantly harrying the Ghanaians but the duo of Kelechi Iheanacho and Dessers squandered some clear cut chances.

The centre referee turned his face away to Nigeria's call for a 17th minute penalty but 20 minutes later, he pointed to the spot after another foul by the Ghanaians.

Jordan Ayew led the protest against that decision but the spot kick stood.

Rangers striker Dessers clutched the ball closely to himself and dispatched it to the bottom left corner to put the Nigerians ahead.

Chippa United goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali saved bravely from the feet of Bournemouth striker Antoine Semenyo just before the break.

In the second half, Nwabali continued his impressive game as he smothered the ball from a Jordan Ayew header inside the penalty box.

Jerome Opoku was handed the matching order in the 56th minute to reduce the Black Stars to 10 men.

With six minutes to the end of the game and reminiscent of some of the goals during the Afcon 2023, Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho combined beautifully to set up Ademola Lookman for the second goal.

Jordan Ayew ensured there was some respectability in the scoreline as he scored from the penalty spot to make it 2-1 but there was no further goal from either side.
