Internet Fraudsters Arrested For Killing Friend

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested four suspected Internet fraudsters for allegedly killing their friend, Uzoma Alexander.

Balogun Sulaiman, Babatunde Owoseni, Azeez Oyebanji and Ayobami Adesina were arrested following a report at the Adigbe divisional police headquarters by the victim’s mother, Ogechi Alexander.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer said in a statement on Wednesday, that the mother of the victim reported that her son left home on November 20, 2021, and did not return home. She added that her son told her that he was going to visit some of his friends, whom she did not know.

“A case of a missing person was reported at the Adigbe division, but when the whereabouts of the victim remained a mystery after some days, the Commissioner of Police then directed the case to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for investigation.

“The SCIID embarked on an investigation and led to the identification of one the suspected culprit, Babatunde Owoseni, as the person who was last seen with the victim and he was promptly arrested. He then led the policemen to arrest the three other accomplices," the statement read in part.

Oyeyemi added that upon further interrogation, they confessed that the victim came to them to learn Internet fraud. Then, they all smoked Colorado and fell asleep. Then after waking up around 8 pm, they met the victim on the ground, as he had vomited all over his body. They discovered that he was no longer breathing.

“At that point, they planned and arranged for a Uber driver and when the driver came, one of them collected the vehicle from him and used it to carry the corpse to the top of Kuto overhead bridge, where it was dumped.

“The dead body was later removed by state health workers and buried as an unknown corpse but investigations revealed that there was a mark of violence on the head of the deceased,"

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Lanre Bankole has ordered a thorough investigation on the case and has ordered that the case be charged to court immediately.
