Interswitch Partners American Express On Amex Card

A digital payment tech company, Interswitch Limited, has announced a new partnership with American Express to broaden the use of Amex Card. 

This new partnership is designed to expand the usage and acceptance of American Express Cards across Nigeria and also allows Interswitch to integrate its network of merchants in Nigeria into the global American Express network.

Included in the agreement is the management scheme which states that Interswitch will assume responsibility for managing American Express merchants in Nigeria including promoting its platform to new merchants.

Before this deal, American Express Card only functioned in a selected area of the country but with this new deal with Interswitch, American Express card can now enjoy a wide access range across the country.

In a statement, Divisional Chief Executive Officer for Payment Processing at Interswitch, Akeem Lawal, said: “AmEx and Interswitch are aligned in our desire to provide fast and secure payment solutions and transactions across Nigeria. With this new partnership, we are improving AmEx Cardmember access to a convenient and secure network, which also benefits our merchants who will gain new opportunities presented by an expanded user base.

"By remaining card scheme neutral, Interswitch will continue to explore innovative partnerships that will benefit consumers and retailers alike.”

Lawal also accentuated the commitment of Interswitch to promote the reliability of the company as well as expand its merchant base.
