The Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa has become a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Building (FNIOB).
The governor said his administration remains committed to effective town planning and control when he received the institute in Gombe to decorate him.
The president of the Institute, Professor Yohanna Izam alongside other national and state officials decorated the governor.
Professor Izam said they were in the state decorate governor Yahaya for his contributions to the development of the building industry.
He further commended the governor for the development of social and economic infrastructure such as the multi billion naira Muhammadu Buhari Industrial park and other projects.
He also appealed to the governor "upgrade the physical planning laws of the State so as to be in tandem with global best practices", as contained in a statement by the spokesperson of the governor, Ismaila Uba Misilli.
The governor who appreciated the gesture said his administration established the Gombe State Geographic Information System (GOGIS) and the Gombe State Urban Planning and Development Authority (GOSUPDA) as an effort to curtail issues in land administration and uncontrolled erection of structures in the state.
According to the statement, governor Yahaya stated that: "Despite being a fellow of some professional institutes and associations in the country, that of the NIOB is dear to him considering his long dealings with the building industry."
"The honour is not done to me alone but the entire people of the State, especially members of my cabinet who work day and night to bring about the prevailing socio-economic and infrastructural development in the State", he added.
